Knit a Christmas Jumper / Sweater Campervan / Kombi Style!

I finally managed to finish knitting my "kids camper van jumper" (though for people rather smaller than my own kids!).  This jumper is designed to fit kids from 0-6 months up to 7 years. (I might have a go at an adult sized one later next year).

This is based on the VW Splitscreen but I'm hoping to do a Bay too (If you want a Bay one, let me know by email and I'll let you know when the pattern is available).
As it's Christmas time I figured I'd go a bit festive with the colours, hence the red, green and white and a candy cane hood!  You can of course customise your colours :)

Campervan Egg Cosy or Christmas Tree Decoration ???

I was thinking (I know, steady on!), there is no reason you couldn't use the Campervan Egg Cosy Pattern to make some Festive Dub Decorations for your Christmas tree.
Why not sew a bell inside to add a festive touch ;)
Maybe you could fill them with some kind of Christmas scented pot pourri and stitch a felt base on them, or even better, fill them with small sweets and sew in a paper base as a treat for the kids (unless they are liquor chocolates in which case back off kids, they're mine!).

Campervan Cakes and Christmas Cakes

Just had to share a photo of the cake our 15 year old son made for his Dad's birthday - well done son!
Complete with marzipan and icing to match our own Splitty, coconut grass, chocolate crunchy rocks and a jelly stream all to remind us of a wonderful weekend camping with the Late Bay Club in our van (we were invited, honest!) at Malham Cove in Yorkshire.

He has also made our Christmas cake - taken from a recipe in Decembers Good Food Magazine.

It has come out really well and we can't wait to try it!

Campervan Christmas Knits

Knit yourself a Campervan Beanie Hat

Knit yourself a Campervan Blanket

 

I've just added another knitting pattern to my Etsy account, this time for a blanket with campervans on it. I didn't set out with the idea of making it in Jubilee colours, it just turned out that way!

Having seen lots of sleepy toddlers being pulled around in little red wagons at the VW events I thought maybe someone might like to make one of these to keep their little 'uns snug.  Of course there is no reason that it should just be kept for the kids - you could make a really big one for yourself!

This blanket measured approx. 107cm long and 61cm wide and took just 400g of double knitting yarn.

You can make it any colour you like so maybe you could match your van :)

You could even make it extra snuggly by adding a fleecy backing.

If you don't need a blanket, why not just make a few squares up into a cushion or maybe even a wall hanging (not that there would be room to hang one on the wall of a camper!)

Campervan Event over Easter

If you're looking for a Campervan event over Easter you could pop across to Chester Racecourse for CamperFest which runs from the 6th to 9th April.  Lots of entertainment for you and the kids, including an Easter Egg Hunt of course and not to mention an abundance of culinary treats. Yummy!

Knit a Campervan Egg Cosy for Easter

I was feeling a bit brave and thought I'd have a go at creating a campervan knitting pattern.  The result was this Egg Cosy which I thought would make a great gift idea for a campervan lover at Easter.  It only takes oddments of yarn so you could make yourself a dozen in different colours.  Just think how many chocolate eggs you could justify buying and of course you can still use the cover after Easter!

Festival Blanket with a Hood - perfect for camping!

You know how it is with the good old British Weather - one minute bright blue skies and the next thrashing rain.  It makes camping and picnics interesting! 

We found some blankets in fantastic colours with soft fleece on the inside and a waterproof outer coating as well as a hood. 

You can wrap them around you like a cape - perfect for sitting out on those chilly camping evenings, you can put the hood up and keep the rain out or you can just spread them flat and use them like a picnic blanket. Great if you've got kids too especially on those beach trips when they stay in the sea so long they come out blue and shivering - just dry them off then wrap them in one of these - perfect!
