Busy making things!

Well, I've not been very good at the blog thing again!  The VW season has now finished so I'm back to making things for craft fairs between now and Christmas (is it to early to mention that word?!).  I've just added Make your own Bat kits to my felt craft kit collection ready for Halloween - they're not too spooky though, quite friendly really.  You can find them on our Etsy shop and don't forget to come and visit us on Facebook or Twitter :)

I Love My Camper Van (Campervan) Bunting

I've spent the weekend (in between the usual chores!) making bunting which you can, if you so wish, hang in the back window of your camper van.  These are for Bays but I'm also hoping to make some for Splittys and Beetles.  If you want different words or perhaps the name of your camper, that's fine too and don't worry if you can't see your colour listed, just ask, I can make one just for you!  Everything is stitched, not glued so you don't need to worry about letters peeling off after a couple of weeks!

They aren't listed on the website yet but you can find them in my Folksy Shop
Starting at £15 each for a set as shown in the photos.

Catching up

Well, I've been very remiss about the blog lately so sorry about that but things have been rather hectic!  We've been to Mighty Dub Fest and CamperJam - both were great events and thanks to everyone who came to visit the stall!

Our collapsible bowls and kettles were popular as were the LED solar string lights (which lots of people were using on their flag pole this year!).  You can check them out on our "Space Savers" & "Chilling" pages at

We met some fellow traders with great goodies and we would like to share some them with you so here goes: - Based in Harrogate Lulabelle's Lunches offer a great selection of edible goodies served from a wonderful pink VW split screen van. - A fabulous range of original clothing and gifts designed by Mark and Bev and based around a love of VWs and dogs - Another great selection of gifts and T-Shirts with a VW theme, original, handmade and not mass produced! Based just outside Harrogate North Yorkshire, DubTricks specialise in Aircooled restoration, customisation and repair. Volkswagen Beetle, VW Splitscreen, VW Bay window camper, Karmann Ghia, you name it, they can do it! This site for VW enthusiasts can link you to all sorts of information so if you want to hire a camper, chat on a forum or hear about the latest events, give them a try!

LED Solar String Lights

We decided we would like to sell Fairy lights or String lights if you'd rather but because electrical hook ups are not always an option and not everyone has a 12 volt connector in their campervan we thought we would go with solar power!  We tried a set out before committing ourselves, they've been working happily in our conservatory for weeks now and we're really pleased with them.

If you'd like a set for your campervan or caravan or just to have in the garden have a look at our website and check out the "Chilling" page!

Cottage Garden Crochet Blanket

Although it's slightly on the gloomy side here in our little part of Yorkshire today I am quite hopeful that summer is on its way.  We are just in the process of re-doing our garden which is currently sadly lacking in the flower department.  However, I dug out my crochet hook and pulled together this blanket which has lots of summer garden colours in it.  It cheered me up making it and I hope that you will like it too.  It is for sale on our website
I hope that someone will enjoy it to take with them on a picnic, in a camper van or perhaps a vintage caravan!

Spring has Sprung!

I've used my Cath Kidston fabric to make into cutlery rolls in the hope that Spring has finally sprung and we can brave the great outdoors again!  So, brush off the picnic basket, dig out the melamine and if you need somewhere handy to keep your cutlery how about one of these?!
P.S.  If you like the Vintage Red Poppy Melaware shown in the photograph I do actually have some in stock at present (£30 for a 4 person set consisting of 4 dinner plates, 4 side plates and 4 cups & saucers - I could split it into individual place settings at £8 per set)  If you're interested just drop me an e-mail

Puppets - Great for bored kids on long journeys!

We've just added puppets to our goodies on the website.  We bought our kids a couple and now they can't wait for long trips so "Bob" and "Bluey" can wave a passers by on the motorway (and if you own a campervan you'll know there are plenty of people passing you!).  Our kids even ditched the Nintendos for puppets - amazing, no mention of "I'm bored, are we nearly there yet?"!  I can't promise total harmony but it's certainly given us a few more peaceful trips!  We've got three varieties available,
Baby Birds, Sockettes and CarPets a sample of which are shown here.
You can check out the rest at:

One Man and His Campervan

I've just enjoyed the first episode of One Man and His Campervan, a culinary tour of the UK by Martin Dorey in his trusty stead (well, sometimes!), a 1970s VW Bay Window camper.  This trip was based in his home county - Devon and next week is The New Forest.  A little nostalgia for me next week then as we spent many a camping trip there with our parents...happy days!  Lots of handy tips for cooking in small spaces & in the great outdoors.  Check out the link if you missed this weeks episode. . Showing on Mondays at 18:30 on BBC2.
If you have any handy recipes of your own how about sharing them on the blog?

Royal Wedding Bunting

Well, I've made my first string!  Hope you like it.  I had wanted to show it on a lovely sunny day with some nice trees and flowers in the background but this being Yorkshire and it being cold & grotty I'm afraid my fireplace will have to suffice for now!  So, if you do like it and you are having a party for William and Kates big day or you just like red, white and blue, check out my website at

Royal Wedding - Kate and William - get the bunting out!

I'm sure we don't really need an excuse for a party but with the Royal wedding looming and an official day off in sight what better excuse could you have?  Even if your not into the Royal thing there must be plenty of occasions crying out for red, white and blue bunting.  To make things less boring I'm chucking in a few spots and stripes just for good measure!  The fabric only arrived yesterday but I've already made a start and rest assured I'll let you have some pictures when I've sewn a few flags together.  So, watch out on the blog and the website if you think you might like to order some!
